More than 80 national and global construction firms comprising The Construction Industry Safety (CISI) Group and the Incident and Injury Free CEO (IIF) Forum have joined forces to create and celebrate Safety Week from May 7-11, 2018. Safety Week offers an opportunity for employers to share their organization’s commitment to jobsite safety with their communities.
Safety Week is a broad public relations effort, engaging key media outlets and influencers throughout the U.S. and Canada. The mission of Safety Week is to collectively raise the awareness of the construction industry’s continuing commitment to eliminating worker injury, and to clearly communicate its dedication to a shared culture of care and concern. Program partners, including LA Metro, the Texas Dept. of Transportation, the Florida Dept. of Transportation the District Department of Transportation (Washington DC), Infrastructure Ontario, Defence Construction Canada and the North Texas Municipal Water District, will hold special Safety Week events to promote this year’s theme: We are Stronger & Safer Together.
To create safe work environments, workers and leaders must actively make safe choices every day, and recognize that those choices have significant impact on their colleagues, company, family and friends. Employers are encouraged to hold safety events in their communities in order to engage the local media along with fellow workers in the construction industry.
The Construction Industry Safety Initiative (CISI) includes twelve major contractors who come together every other year for a two-day Safety Summit that includes over 30 major U.S. contractors. The goal of CISI is to influence not only those within their group, but others to work safely and elevate safety awareness to a new level.
The Incident & Injury-Free (IIF™) Executive Forum is comprised of CEO’s from leading U.S. engineering and construction firms. The IIF™ Executive Forum has met bi-annually since 2009 to renew their commitment to the elimination of worker injury and to help create an industry-wide safety transformation.
