The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and other federal safety agencies have designated May 2-6, 2016, for the third annual National Safety Stand-Down to Prevent Falls in Construction.
Falls continue to be the leading cause of fatalities in construction, accounting for about one-third of all fatalities in the industry. OSHA has developed a standard for fall protection that deals with both human and equipment-related issues in protecting workers from fall hazards.
