Workers’ Memorial Day on April 28, 2020, is an annual international day of remembrance and action for workers killed, disabled, injured or made unwell by their work.
At 11 a.m. (CT) Friday, April 26, 2020, the National Safety Council will host a virtual candlelight vigil on Facebook. All are welcome to join by offering comments of support, remembrance and love for those who tragically died while working.
The NSC also urges Americans to take the Safe at Work Pledge to prioritize safety at work, and dedicate that pledge to those who have been killed in preventable workplace incidents.
I pledge to:
- Never compromise my own safety or the safety of my co-workers to get the job done
- Actively look for hazards, promptly report them, and take appropriate action to warn others
- Be a good safety role model for my friends and family even when off the job
