Construction employers and other stakeholders are encouraged to participate in the 8th annual National Safety Stand-Down to Prevent Falls in Construction the week of May 3-7, 2021.
The National Safety Stand-Down to Prevent Falls in Construction is a voluntary event for employers to talk directly to employees by taking a break to focus on fall hazards and to reinforce the importance of fall prevention. It can also be an opportunity for employees to talk to management about fall and other job hazards they see.
Companies can participate by having a toolbox talk, conducting safety equipment inspections, developing rescue plans or discussing job specific hazards. Managers are encouraged to plan a stand-down event that works best for their workplace anytime. OSHA also hosts an Events page with events that are free and open to the public to help employers and employees find events in your area.
Employers can use #StandDown4Safety to promote the event on Twitter and Instagram, and to share feedback after their events and obtain a personalized certificate of participation. OSHA’s National Safety Stand-Down webpage offers compliance resources in many languages, including Spanish, Polish, Russian and Portuguese.
