OTC #150: Outreach Trainer Essential Tools
Course Description:
The Outreach Trainer Essential Tools course is designed for authorized OSHA Outreach Trainers seeking to enhance their instructional effectiveness beyond the standard trainer courses, especially those early in their training careers. Participants will develop practical skills and strategies to improve course delivery, manage diverse learning environments, and ensure compliance with OSHA Outreach Training Program Requirements.
Many instructors find the initial planning and organization challenging—this course walks them through the essential steps to set up a successful 10- or 30-hour class.
Through interactive instruction and applied exercises, the course focuses on planning and organizing Outreach classes, utilizing instructional technology effectively, and maintaining accurate training documentation.
Participants will learn how to:
- Understand Outreach Training Program requirements and compliance expectations
- Develop clear and effective course outlines
- Organize class schedules for both 10- and 30-hour formats
- Set up and manage student rosters and documentation
- Identify and handle common exceptions and special situations
- Strategies for managing disruptive and escalated classroom behavior
- Apply best practices for recordkeeping and course delivery
- Effective use audio-visual and instructional technology
- Design and deliver effective presentations
- Utilize the OSHA Outreach Trainer Portal (oshacardportal.com)
By the end of the course, trainers will have a structured plan, the necessary documentation templates, and the confidence to run their training in compliance with program standards
Prerequisites:
Must be a current OSHA Authorized Outreach Trainer.
This class welcomes participants from all OSHA regions.
NOTE for virtual (Zoom) sessions: Zoom classes are ONLY open to participants located in California, Oregon, Washington, Alaska, Idaho, Nevada, Arizona, American Samoa, Hawaii, Guam, and Northern Mariana Islands. No transfers or refunds fewer than 10 days prior to class. Students will receive a digital course workbook.
