OTC #401: Trainer Couse in Forklift Safety
Course Description
This course is designed for those who are interested in teaching forklift safety to employees and other interested groups. Course participants learn classroom instruction, pre-trip inspection techniques, hands-on practice and evaluation, as well as effective instructional approaches and the successful use of visual aids and handouts. Forklift operation experience is helpful but not needed for this course. An operational supervisor may be needed to assist you in training and evaluation at your facility.
Participants learn effective instructional approaches, adult learning principles, and training techniques. Students in this course must prepare a presentation on an assigned OSHA construction outreach topic and successfully pass and exam at the end of the course to become an authorized outreach trainer. It is recommended that a laptop is brought to class to work on developing presentations.
Topics Include:
– effective instructional approaches and the use of visual aids/handouts
– construction terms found in OSHA standards
– effective safety and health training programs that are in accordance with OSHA’s construction standards, regulations, and guidelines

Knowledge of forklift operations and have proof of current training and evaluation.
