OSHA #3115: Fall Protection
Course Description
Fall Protection covers the OSHA Fall Protection Standards and an overview of its methods. Topics covered include principles, the components of fall arrest systems, the limitations of fall arrest equipment, and OSHA policies. Students will participate in workshops demonstrating the inspection and use of equipment, residential construction protection, training requirements, and developing a safety program.
Learning Objectives:
- Identify various types of protection equipment and arrest systems, their components and limitations
- Recognize fall hazards and identify abatement methods
- Proper use of fall protection equipment and fall arrest systems
- Assess compliance with the OSHA standards
- Evaluate installed passive systems/fall arrest systems
- Develop and implement written safety plans

- Sample safety plans
- 29 CFR 1926 Subpart M
- Litigation decisions and case studies
NOTE: Appropriate clothing (long pants/closed-toed shoes) must be worn to participate in hands-on exercises. Additional personal protective equipment may be required and will be specified on day-one of class. We recommend that students bring their assigned fall protection (harness/lanyards) to class.
