OSHA Outreach trainer Rena Goudey believes workplace safety is about more than compliance. It is about protecting people and preventing harm through education and awareness.
Based in Northern California’s Rocklin and Roseville area, Rena serves as a Senior Construction Risk Engineer with AXA XL. She has built a career in occupational health and safety spanning more than 23 years.
Since 2008, she has also served as an OSHA Outreach trainer through the Chabot-Las Positas Community College District OSHA Training Institute Education Center.
Rena’s path into safety began while she was studying microbiology and working in an occupational health clinic. There, she saw firsthand the impact workplace injuries can have on workers and their families.
That experience strengthened her commitment to preventing harm before it happens. Her perspective as a mother also helped guide her toward a career in occupational health and safety.
As a Construction OSHA Outreach trainer, Rena teaches OSHA 10- and 30-hour courses. She helps workers and supervisors recognize hazards, understand OSHA standards, and apply practical strategies to improve jobsite safety.
Rena brings more than two decades of field experience into the classroom. She translates technical knowledge into accessible, real-world instruction that supports safer work environments.
In her role at AXA XL, Rena applies her construction risk engineering expertise to help clients identify, evaluate, and reduce safety risks across complex projects.
Alongside this work, she supports organizations that deliver OSHA Outreach courses internally. As a subject matter expert, she helps ensure their training aligns with OSHA Outreach requirements and CLPCCD OTIEC procedures.
Through her work with CLPCCD’s OSHA Training Institute Education Center, Rena contributes to a broader mission of expanding access to high-quality safety education.
That education empowers workers and helps strengthen safety culture across industries.
Rena hopes her involvement in Outreach training will encourage other safety professionals to share their expertise. By becoming trainers, they can help prepare the next generation of safety leaders and prevent workplace injuries.
