The OSHA Training Institute Education Center at Chabot-Las Positas Community College District delivers occupational safety and health training throughout California, Arizona, Hawaii, Nevada, Guam, and at employer facilities.

Cancellation and Attendance
Cancellation or reschedule requests must be submitted in writing at least 7 days before the first day of class to be eligible for refund or credit. Attendance at all required course sessions is expected.

Bloodborne Pathogens Exposure Control for Healthcare Facilities
This course covers how to develop a bloodborne pathogens exposure plan for healthcare facilities using a step-by-step approach, including the OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens Standard, exposure control plans, exposure determination, methods of control, vaccinations and evaluations, training and information, and recordkeeping.
Cal/OSHA 30-Hour Outreach Training for Construction
This course covers Cal/OSHA standards and requirements as they apply to the construction industry and teaches safety awareness for recognizing and reducing job site hazards. Attendees receive a Cal/OSHA 30-Hour Construction Outreach course completion card and certificate.

Cal/OSHA Update for Construction Industry Outreach Trainers
This course updates the OSHA 5109 Cal/OSHA Standards for the Construction Industry course. Topics include changes affecting the construction industry, Cal/OSHA strategic plan updates, enforcement and consultation, procedural changes, new and proposed standards, website navigation, and resources.
Cal/OSHA Update for General Industry Outreach Trainers
This course updates the OSHA 5119 Cal/OSHA Standards for General Industry course. Topics include changes affecting general industry, Cal/OSHA strategic plan updates, enforcement and consultation, procedural changes, new and proposed standards, website navigation, and resources.
Confined Space Rescue Operations
This course teaches students how to conduct rescues in permit-required confined spaces. Students learn how to develop and update pre-plans, conduct practice rescues, inspect and maintain equipment, and coordinate with other emergency responders.
Collateral Duty Course for Other Federal Agencies
This course introduces federal agency collateral duty safety and health personnel to the OSH Act, Executive Order 12196, 29 CFR 1960, and 29 CFR 1910. Participants learn to recognize basic safety and health hazards and assist with inspection and abatement efforts.
Cranes in Construction
This course covers best practices in crane and derrick operation using the OSHA Cranes and Derricks in Construction Rule as a guide. Topics include assembly and disassembly hazards, crane types, lifting concepts, rigging, wire rope, signaling, employee qualifications, training, maintenance, repair, and inspection.
Disaster Site Worker Trainer
This course prepares experienced Outreach Training Program trainers to present the OSHA 7600 Disaster Site Worker Course. Topics include the National Response Framework, Incident Command System, disaster work zone safety, respiratory protection, communication issues, and adult training methods.
Electrical Safety for Qualified Workers
This course is designed for individuals who work on or near energized electrical systems and complies with Cal/OSHA requirements and NFPA 70E, Standard for Electrical Safety in the Workplace.
Electrical Standards
This course surveys OSHA electrical standards and hazards associated with electrical installations and equipment. Topics include single- and three-phase systems, cord- and plug-connected equipment, fixed equipment, grounding, GFCIs, and safety-related work practices.
Evacuation and Emergency Planning
Participants learn reasons for emergency action plans and fire prevention plans, when they are required, elements of a good evacuation plan, OSHA requirements for plans, and features of proper exit route design and maintenance.
Fall Protection
This course provides an overview of fall protection technology and current OSHA requirements. Topics include principles of fall protection, fall arrest systems, equipment limitations, OSHA policies, and a field exercise demonstrating fall protection equipment.
Fundamentals of an Injury & Illness Prevention Program (IIPP)
This course discusses employer requirements to develop and implement an effective Injury and Illness Prevention Program and guides participants in managing, reviewing, and updating the program. Topics include the eight required elements of an IIPP.
Hazardous Materials
This course covers OSHA General Industry standards for hazardous materials handling and integrates other national consensus standards related to flammable and combustible liquids, compressed gases, LP-gases, cryogenic liquids, spraying, and dipping.
Excavation, Trenching and Soil Mechanics
Students learn practical soil mechanics and the relationship to stability of shored and unshored slopes and excavation walls. Shoring types, testing methods, and field exercises are included.
Fall Hazard Awareness for the Construction Industry
This course focuses on identifying, evaluating, preventing, and controlling fall hazards at construction sites, especially falls to a lower level. Topics include fall hazard analysis, prevention, and OSHA resources.
Hazards Recognition and Standards for On-Shore Oil and Gas Exploration and Production
This course provides information for employees and employers to anticipate, recognize, evaluate, and control hazards common to on-shore oil and gas exploration and production work sites.
HAZWOPER First Responder Awareness Level
This course provides students with an understanding of hazardous substances, potential outcomes of emergencies involving hazardous substances, how to recognize hazardous substances, and what to do as the first responder to a release.
HAZWOPER First Responder Operations Level
This course provides knowledge of basic hazard and risk assessment techniques, PPE selection and use, hazardous materials terminology, and basic decontamination procedures for first responders at the operations level.
HAZWOPER 40-Hour
This course provides written and hands-on instruction in hazardous waste operations and emergency response as it relates to chemical and physical exposures in industrial and field settings. It satisfies generalized employee training requirements under OSHA 1910.120 and 1926.
HAZWOPER Refresher, 8-Hour
This course is designed for hazardous waste operations and emergency response workers who must satisfy their annual 8-hour refresher training requirement.
Health Hazard Awareness
This awareness course introduces common workplace health hazards, including exposure to chemicals, asbestos, silica, and lead, along with hazard identification, sources of exposure, health hazard information, evaluation of exposure, and controls.
Introduction to Incident (Accident) Investigation
This course introduces basic accident investigation procedures and accident analysis techniques. The goal is to help participants gain skills needed to conduct effective accident investigations at their workplace.
Introduction to Safety and Health Management
This introductory course addresses the four core elements of an effective safety and health program with strategies and techniques critical to proper management.
Lockout/Tagout
This course focuses on employer responsibilities to develop and implement an energy control program for worker protection during servicing and maintenance activities on machines and equipment.
Machinery and Machine Guarding Standards
This course familiarizes students with common machinery, related safety standards, and control of hazardous energy sources. Students learn an inspection approach for recognizing hazards and identifying abatement options.
OSHA Standards for the Construction Industry
This course covers federal OSHA policies, procedures, and standards, as well as construction safety and health principles. It is the prerequisite to the OSHA 500 Outreach Trainer course for the Construction Industry.
OSHA Standards for General Industry
This course covers federal OSHA policies, procedures, and standards, as well as general industry safety and health principles. It is the prerequisite course to the OSHA 501 Trainer Course for General Industry.
