Stuart Banashek
Interim Program Manager
Stuart Banashek joined Chabot-Las Positas Community College District OSHA Training Center as Interim Program Manager after a 15+ year career in U.S. foreign affairs, international development, and government operations. Immediately prior to this role, he served as a Foreign Service Officer with the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), most recently in Washington, DC, supporting USAID’s Middle East Bureau and contributing to the strategic oversight of a $12 billion development portfolio spanning 16 countries.
Before returning stateside, Mr. Banashek served overseas as Deputy Facility Manager at the U.S. Embassy in Amman, Jordan, where he oversaw environmental compliance, infrastructure operations, emergency preparedness, and sustainability programs for a 12-acre diplomatic compound. His work emphasized regulatory compliance, operational resilience, and energy- and resource-efficient facility management.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Banashek held assignments with USAID and the U.S. Department of State at U.S. Embassies in Cairo, Egypt, Dakar, Senegal, and Accra, Ghana. In these roles, he led economic and environmental policy analysis, managed interagency coordination across trade, agriculture, and governance portfolios, and supported large, congressionally mandated development programs.
Mr. Banashek holds a Master of Science in Environmental Policy from Bard College and a Bachelor of Arts in History from Ohio University. He began his international service career as a U.S. Peace Corps Volunteer in Malawi, where he worked at the community level on development initiatives.
