OSHA #510 Occupational Safety and Health Standards for the Construction Industry and OSHA #511 Occupational Safety and Health Standards for General Industry courses are not equivalent to OSHA 30-Hour Outreach Training for Construction and OSHA 30-Hour Outreach Training for General Industry classes, and it is important for interested students to be aware of the key distinctions.
OSHA #510 Occupational Safety and Health Standards for the Construction Industry and OSHA #511 Occupational Safety and Health Standards for General Industry are based on OSHA standards and are offered through authorized OSHA Training Institute (OTI) Education Centers. OSHA #510 and OSHA #511 cover the scope and application of OSHA construction or general industry standards, policies and procedures, and safety and health principles, with special emphasis on the most hazardous areas in construction or general industry. A course completion certificate is awarded upon successful completion of each course, and OSHA Training Center students may also earn CEUs.
OSHA 30-Hour Outreach Training for Construction and OSHA 30-Hour Outreach Training for General Industry are taught by OSHA authorized Outreach Trainers and are intended to provide a variety of training to workers with some safety responsibility. Outreach training emphasizes construction or general industry hazard identification, avoidance, control and prevention – not OSHA standards – and focuses on workers’ rights, employer responsibilities, how to file a complaint, as well as how to identify, abate, avoid and prevent job-related hazards. A 30-hour construction or general industry Outreach Training class completion card is awarded to students who successfully complete each training class, and OSHA Training Center students may also earn CEUs.
