The OSHA Training Institute Education Centers in Region 9 have signed an Alliance Agreement with the U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) to formally recognize the regional education centers as collaborative partners with the federal agency. The virtual signing took place on October 21, 2021, and included representatives from OSHA’s San Francisco Regional Office and OSHA Training Institute Education Centers at Chabot-Las Positas Community College District (CLPCCD), Arizona State University, California State University Dominguez Hills, and the University of California, San Diego.

“The OSHA Training Institute Education Center at Chabot-Las Positas Community College District is excited to formalize our already close working relationships through this Alliance,” says Assistant Director Cari Elofson-Callahan. “We look forward to expanding OSHA outreach, education and training, and assistance programs throughout our communities and the workforce.”

Plans are in the works for an in-person signing ceremony at the Voluntary Protection Programs Participants’ Association, Inc. (VPPPA) Region 9 Safety Summit to be held on April 26-28, 2022, in Henderson, Nevada.

OSHA’s Alliance Program enables the agency to develop voluntary, collaborative working relationships with organizations committed to workplace safety and health. Through the Alliance Program, OSHA works with organizations to share information about the agency’s initiatives and offers compliance assistance resources to help educate workers and employers about their rights and responsibilities. OSHA has established alliances with a wide variety of organizations, including businesses, trade associations, unions, consulates, professional organizations, faith and community-based organizations, and educational institutions to help prevent workplace fatalities, injuries, and illnesses.

OSHA Region 9 encompasses California, Nevada, Arizona, Hawaii, Guam, American Samoa, and the Northern Mariana Islands.
