Wellbeing in the workplace involves such factors as low stress, trust and communication, all of which depend on the environment and the role each person plays. Studies have shown that we spend 37% of our lives fulfilling work duties, and it is important that we aim to achieve balance in our careers and our lives. Developing and implementing a safety and health program in your workplace can influence both the physical and psychological wellbeing of employees.

The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) defines wellbeing as “a holistic approach to occupational health, safety and wellbeing – policies, programs and practices that integrate protection from work-related safety and health hazards with promotion of injury and illness prevention efforts to advance worker wellbeing.” For employees to thrive and prosper, it is essential to have a successful safety and health program.
